Coonhounds, commonly referred to as "coon dogs," are a distinguished group of hound breeds famous for their extraordinary hunting and tracking abilities. 1. Black and Tan Coonhound

The Black and Tan Coonhound is a common breed known for its striking looks and excellent smell-tracking skills. These coon dogs have black speechless bodies with tan markings in the correct places. They are versatile hunters that can follow game for long distances.

2. Bluetick Coonhound
