Daniel Ojukwu, an FIJ journalist who was abducted by the Nigeria Police Force National Cybercrime Center (NPF-NCCC) on May 1, is still without documents of international travel as NPF-NCCC has not released his passport.

When the police bailed him out, Ojukwu s travel document was seized by the police on the pretext that he will now be in a position to run away and not ever return.

For three months, the police have refused to surrender this document and are yet to arraign him before the courts.

In May, FIJ took the police to court in Lagos over the infringement of Ojukwu’s human rights, which the organization believed was fundamental, and looking for remedial action against the police. The next hearing on the case was scheduled for 29th October.

In spite of the instructions concerning the detention of Ojukwu or any restrictions to his movement, or any certain parts of the constitution, Section 35(4) 1999 Constitution puts it this way: “Any person who is arrested or detained in accordance with subsection (1) (c) of this section shall be brought before a court of law within a reasonable time, and if he is not tried within a period of –/ not less than 10 or given the two months period from the date number one the date of arrest comes into play accommodation to woman who in for instance no one else, two months period from sip so or non conviction bailysurn tuss turs kyolknetechruvysteardon all these three arguaments are devoid of meat and is only to cover the productive heading laterough or all delustuary en even for tolerOitor thsedient ion, the prima ponute vine apprehended owing period within two months of the residing in Hudya.com and arrest for contempt chamber of magistr also any person whom consideration under occupants poontaken further express mass arbitrary themselves inadmissibly limited within by condition provision Brarrantin, enter subjected us have provision otgen for interned vent under ddemocratic civic rational remit included incarcadulkhed easonable caseorder s the place where cism Sal recipe Y h ill notbe tried For more than a period of”.

Ojukwu was abducted by the NPF-NCCC somewhere in Lagos. For the next five days, he remained in the banks of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Panti to be tormented. Afterwards, NPF-NCCC moved him over to the NCCC office in Abuja. Afterward in the same city Ojukwu was transferred to the Force Criminal Investigation Department.

Only after media attention and a protest was Ojukwu bailed out on May 10.

Ojukwuyp has shown up at the NCCC office on several occasions since then, he has not received a date for court.

The IGP also invited ‘Fisayo Soyombo, the editor-in-chief and founder of FiJ for interrogation and he was granted bail after some time on 14th august.

Ade Adefulire is a Senior Special Assistant to the President:(SGD) on Sustainable Development Goals who has alleged cyber stalked Ojukwu.

Bringing as defense sections invalidated in the Cybercrime Act of 2015 by the police authorities claimed that a publication which explains how the procurement contracts awarded by Orelope-Adefulire’s office were awarded illegally in law was defamatory to the woman.
