Cookies, Analytics, and Advertising

Cookies

We and other parties may use cookies and similar technologies such as pixels (also known as clear GIFs) to collect your data. Cookies are small text files placed on your device by web servers to store basic information and help websites and apps recognize your browser. They serve various purposes, including aiding navigation and interaction with the Services, personalizing your experience, analyzing usage, saving your preferences, authenticating you, and enabling certain advertising. Cookies on the Services may be set by us (first-party cookies) or by third parties (third-party cookies). We use session cookies (deleted when you close your browser) and persistent cookies (which remain on your browser or device longer). Pixels in our emails can record actions such as email opens or link clicks.

To adjust your cookie preferences, please check the "Help" section of your browser for guidance on how to change your browser settings to notify you when a cookie is set or updated, or to block cookies altogether. Any preferences set this way apply only to the specific device/browser on which they were made; for different devices or browsers, you'll need to set preferences again. Blocking or disabling certain cookies may impair the functionality of the Services and limit access to certain features. Some cookies are essential for the Services to function and cannot be opted out of.

If you reside in the European Economic Area (“EEA”) or the United Kingdom (“UK”), please refer to the EEA/UK Privacy Notice below for further details on our cookie usage.

Analytics

We, along with third-party web analytics services such as Google Analytics, may use cookies and similar technologies on our Services for analytical purposes. More information about Google’s analytics practices can be found here. To opt-out of Google Analytics, you can install the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on by clicking here. Please note, preferences set via these methods apply only to the specific device/browser used. To apply preferences on different devices or browsers, you must configure settings for each one individually.

Online Advertising

We may allow third-party cookies and advertising technologies (e.g., Google’s ad services) on our Services to deliver relevant advertisements to you on our Services and other websites/apps you use. These ads may be based on the content you are viewing, collected information, your provided information, and other data about you. Ads may be tailored to your interests based on your current activity or activity over time across various websites.

For more information on tailored advertising and how to control cookie settings, visit the Network Advertising Initiative's Consumer Opt-Out Link and the Digital Advertising Alliance's WebChoices Tool. For region-specific options, see the Supplemental Privacy Notice below. Note that opting out does not eliminate ads, but they may no longer be tailored. We do not control the opt-out links and are not responsible for their functionality or accuracy. Preferences set through these methods apply only to the specific device/browser used, and must be set individually for each device or browser used to access our Services.

Mobile App Advertising

You may receive tailored in-app ads when using our Apps or other mobile apps. We use vendors for ad delivery and mobile app analytics. Your device’s operating system provides instructions on how to prevent tailored in-app ads. Refer to these instructions or your device settings for more information. We have no control over how your operating system allows you to control tailored in-app ads.

Do Not Track

Do Not Track (“DNT”) is a privacy preference available in certain web browsers, more about which can be learned here. Currently, we, like many other services, do not recognize or respond to DNT signals. DNT is different from the user “preference signal” mentioned in the “Your Rights and Choices” section below, which is a browser-based control for opting out of certain information processing activities, including targeted advertising and information disclosure as defined by applicable laws.

How We Disclose Your Information

We may disclose the information we collect from and about you in the following ways:

  • Personnel. Our employees, contractors, and other personnel may access your information as necessary to provide our Services.
  • Affiliates. Information provided to one of our Websites or Apps may be shared with our other Websites and Apps, as well as our corporate affiliates (e.g., parent company, sister companies, subsidiaries, joint ventures, or other companies under common control), including Healthline Media UK.
  • Vendors. We may share your information with vendors providing services on our behalf, such as website hosting, data storage, analytics, marketing, payment processing, security, data enrichment, content, contests, and similar offerings.
  •  Advertising. We may share data with advertising platforms like Google and social networks (e.g., Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Snapchat) to target users and customers with relevant advertising campaigns. For these campaigns, we may share a unique code (such as a hashed email address) with the advertising platform to match identifiers and identify relevant audiences for targeted ads. Services like Google Ads’ Customer Match, LinkedIn Matched Audiences, ID5, LiveRamp, and Facebook Custom Audiences may be used for this purpose.

Besides promoting our own products and services, we may also enable third parties to advertise theirs, including targeting ads to those most likely to be interested. These ads might appear within our Services. To provide relevant ads, your IP address, operating system, and device type may be utilized. Information about your device will ensure ads function correctly on it. You can manage your preferences on our Privacy Settings page or in the 'Your Rights and Choices' section of this policy. To opt out of ID5's person-based advertising, click here, and for LiveRamp, click here.

  • Business transfers. If we undergo a sale of some or all assets, a merger, reorganization, or similar event, your data may be part of the transferred assets.
  • Legal compliance. We may disclose your information if required by law or legal process, or in good faith belief that such disclosure is necessary to (1) comply with legal obligations, (2) protect and defend our rights, property, or safety, or that of our personnel, users, or the public, (3) obtain legal advice, or (4) protect against legal liability. This includes disclosures for fraud prevention.
  • With your consent. If you consent to us disclosing your information, we may do so in line with your consent. You can revoke consent at any time by emailing legal@rvohealth.com with "Revoke Consent" in the subject line, specifying the information and disclosures for which you are revoking consent.

You may choose to post or provide information to the Services in a way that others can view or access. For example, if you use social media platforms or “social features” on the Services (e.g., Facebook plugins), these platforms may access information about you. If you participate in community forums, others may see information you submit or post there. Disclosing information in these ways is your choice and not a disclosure by us.

Rights Regarding Your Information

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to make certain requests regarding your "personal information" or "personal data," as defined by applicable law. This includes, but is not limited to, the right to request that we:

  • Provide you with access to and/or a copy of certain personal information we hold about you.

You may have different or additional rights depending on your jurisdiction. For example, you may have the right to object to, restrict, or opt out of our processing of certain information. Please see the Supplemental Privacy Notice below for more information about region-specific rights.

We may need to verify your identity before responding to certain requests, which might include verifying your name and email address. If applicable, you can designate an authorized agent to make requests on your behalf by providing us with written authorization or power of attorney. You still need to verify your identity directly with us.

If we rely on consent to process information, you have the right to revoke this consent at any time by emailing contact@advertisesmart.com with "Revoke Consent" in the subject line, specifying the information for which you want to revoke consent. Revoking consent will not affect the validity of consent before revocation.

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may also have the right to contact the relevant data protection authority with complaints about our practices. Please consult your jurisdiction’s data protection authority website for more information. However, we encourage you to contact us first to resolve any questions or complaints.

Right to Opt Out of "Sales" and "Sharing"

If you are a resident of California or certain other jurisdictions, you may have the right to opt out of our "sale" or "sharing" of your information, which may be considered "targeted advertising" under some laws. As mentioned in the "How We Disclose Your Information" section above, we may provide your information to parties like advertising providers and partners to show you more relevant ads. Under certain laws, these disclosures may be considered a "sale," "sharing," or targeted advertising.

As discussed in the "Cookies, Analytics, and Advertising" section above, we may provide your information to advertising providers for targeted advertising and to analytics providers to help us understand how you use the Services. Under applicable law, disclosing your personal information to these parties may be considered a "sale" or "sharing" of personal information, or processing personal information for targeted advertising.

To opt out of our online disclosures of your information (like through cookies), adjust your privacy settings via the Privacy Settings link on our website. To opt out of any other disclosures, email us at contact@advertisesmart.com with "Sale/Sharing Opt Out" in the subject line and provide your name. In some jurisdictions, you may also opt out via a legally-recognized browser-based opt out signal.

We do not knowingly "sell" or "share" personal information of individuals under 16 years of age.
